Anyone else seeing potential issues with the change that a player being subbed must leave the FoP within 10 seconds, but "if a player who is to be substituted refuses to leave, play continues" being left in?
IMO 99 times out of 100 that very same tackle would cause no injury whatsoever, the referee might give a caution, and nothing more would be said about it. Should we really punish the 1% case differently because the outcome was different? If a player has an undiagnosed weakness in their tib/fib...
Agree that the tackle that caused the injury isn't SFP - think the ref had it right to begin with.
First red I think yellow would've been correct had it been in the area; a poor attempt to challenge for the ball is still a challenge for the ball. Certainly didn't look like it was a deliberate trip.
World Cup or not it ticks all the boxes for me - lunging in at speed, off the ground, straight leg at moment of contact, point of contact is studs into ankle/achilles.
Anyone thinking SFP for the Bernardo Silva caution on about 12 mins? Probably not quite enough for the VAR to recommend a review, but I think the on-field call should have been red. Would have like to have seen a dissent caution for Ronaldo too, but porcine aerial manoeuvres springs to mind.
