Referees that only allow ceremonial free kicks

*sigh*

Just agree to do things your own ways and leave it be. If it works for you, great. Others have their own ways. Entrenched position arguments are very boring, yet rather blinkered and often explosive.

Let's move on, please.

Not a lot else to do is there? I made the trip to the ground this morning as the referee was 30 minutes and 25 miles further away. I, the assessor, called the game off. Fear my power...

would there be a case for pre empting things and mentioning to either the captains or managers prior to kick off that you were not averse to quick free kicks in the right situations? or is that just asking for trouble?

Can't see how it's asking for trouble at all. I've heard some referees do that. Not sure if there's any benefit in it, but only because I'm opposed to too much of a prematch anyway. I could see that there may be a potential benefit.

yep, same ... i find they nod off if you give them too much information to absorb! i might try it over the next few weeks anyways, see how its received
