QPR v Cardiff City

Interesting incident yesterday (Had to have something to take my mind of the result  )

Cardiff City like to take the odd long throw, so positioned towels near touchline level with edge of QPR penalty area.

After the 1st throw a spectator persuaded a ball boy to give him the towels which he proceeded to throw into the crowd (QPR fans).

Obviously they never came back. Pretty sure they were not replaced, but Cardiff bench (far side to me) did seem to remonstrate with 4th official - anything he could/should have done?

Not one for the match officials, other than to potentially report it after.

Don't towels have to be available for both sides if they're used? Stoke used towel materail under the shirt to get round it

Yes, but that's a wishy-washy nonsense solution. If team A has a long throw specialist and team B doesn't, providing towels benefits one team more regardless of if they're available for team B or not. I've never understood why they didn't just take the simpler and fairer option of banning this practice outright.

Clubs should install industrial hand driers, akin to what we find in toilets, and have them blowing hot air on demand

no, nothimg can be done.

The only real issue I have with towels are when a team uses them to waste more time when they are winning and trying to use every trick to slow the game down.
