Play on or stop game?

Play switches from yellow team left back area to inside opposing half via a long ball. Keeper comes out to sweep, misses ball. Meanwhile a blue player goes down clutching his face/ stomach off the pitch. Club assistant shouts "ref". Attacking yellow player has since run through on goal with the ball and tapped into an empty net due to GK howling error. Play hasn't been stopped. Goal allowed. Correct decision? All events seemed to happen at the same time.

Personally, based on what you've written, goal.

I mean, face/stomach are not even close, so are they "faking" it. Not going to make assumptions but you then have to consider is there any reason they've gone down? Was there a challenge? If its off the ball and out of sight then you can't sanction anyone as you've not seen it.
Assume it was since the De Gea incident the other day. Are they trying to get the game stopped because they saw something they could potentially exploit? Everyone knows head injuries you're stopping the game more or less instantly. So have they realised the keeper has messed up and its a guaranteed goal and this "con" is a means to defend?

Nobody seemed to know why. Player tried to close down the clearance. Maybe a flailing accidental arm. It was more the fact he was off the pitch by the time anyone saw he appeared in pain. He returned to field of play after goal was scored and just continued.

From the original post, goal.

to the original poster, curious as to background thinking as to why you would stop the game for a player who is off the pitch?
