Penalty Shootout with CARs

Hi all,

I recently had my first penalty shootout, in a cup match with CARs. To prevent any allegations of bias, I placed myself on the goal line, rather than the CAR, and instead asked the pair of those to stand with the players at half way. Between the kicks, I took glances to ensure everything was ok. Would everyone agree that this is the right approach or should I have let the CARs watch the keepers? Also, for a penalty during normal/extra time, how would you manage this?

Thanks in advance.

100%. Might even want to dismiss CARs at that point (you basically did) .

You're just inviting trouble having someone biased involved.

For me CARs will never call anything beside throws, and maybe a corner/goal kick if it’s right in front of them.

As a result they don’t have a role to play in a shootout. I’d position myself on the corner of the 6 yard box to the left of the kicker - that’s my normal positioning at a PK, and I don’t like acting solely as the goal judge 🤷‍♂️

Each to their own, but for me CARs serve no purpose here
