Leaving Refereeing

Hi all,

If and when you decide to stop refereeing, is it as simple as not registering with your County FA for the next season, or do you need to send a letter of resignation style email to your County FA and appointment secretaries?

It would be courteous to do so I'm sure, you never say never that you may return. Always good to leave in a good way.....Enjoy your retirement..

Unless you're sure you are completely done, then I'd ask your County FA to keep you registered but to make you inactive. I didn't when I retired the first time and as such won't qualify for 20 years unbroken service as a referee next year.

If you're an observer, even for 7-6 or a mentor, then you need to keep your registration active. As for an Appts Secs, it is nice for them to know why you're giving up.
