Can you go from level y1 to level 7 if under 16, and what are the benefits of progression?

Can you go from level y1 to level 7 if you are under 16? Also, is it worth it (apart from the experience of ref pathway)? Also what're the benefits of being a higher level referee, would you get more money for lower level football or do you get given matches with higher levels of importance e.g cup finals or higher level leagues, or is there other non-economic benefits or not any at all? Thanks

Y1-Y2 doesn't make a difference other than showing some commitment to your county RDO. I believe they don't appoint county cup games until you're 16+ anyway, at which point you'll be a 7.

Take as many youth games as you can and learn from it, gaining experience is the best way to better your performances - you are still young and have alot of time to worry about promotions!

No you can't. You remain a Youth referee until your 16th birthday. Also, you are not allowed to officiate at open age matches until you are 16 (per SCOR).

You can go Y1/Y2 whilst under 16, and move automatically to Level 7 once you are 16.
Payments for games are fixed by the competition, and have nothing to do with the level of referee appointed - so if a Premier League referee officiated on an Under-15's game, they would get the same pay as you.
progress from Level 6 upwards takes you to higher competitions, better football, etc.

Rob Jones actually said in an interview last season that he helps out on his local league when he doesn't get appointments elsewhere. Imagine turning up to your Sunday league match with a FIFA badge on!

Simon Long has been known to referee grassroots here in Cornwall. Guy I worked with had him once, his words were “there’s no hiding, he was everywhere!” Few expletives in the actual quote 🤣

It was reported that Sam Allison was out for a training run recently when he was stopped and asked if he would referee a youth game, to which he agreed.
