Bare with me as I'm only 7 games in, but from what I've read wouldn't this still be a yellow even if it lead to a goal? If it would be downgraded it would be good to know why according to the LOTG for future reference.

No. The clarification this year was that a yellow card should be shown.

For reference:


Essentially what might have been a DOGSO is downgraded to
• commits a foul which interferes with or stops a promising attack except
where the referee awards a penalty kick for an offence which was an attempt
to play the ball

Now if in the penalty area and a genuine attempt for the ball then we would possibly not need to caution.

I think that scenario @one raise with ifab who advised that might be a revision for next year.

I have updated my answer. Its important to follow the explanations for a change as sometimes they lose context in future editions.

I didn't specify that the DOGSO in question as a genuine attempt for the ball inside the box as that was implied in Quiz Q5)

Other DOGSO offences (i.e. USB) inside the box would still warrant a YC, because they're RC offences
So DOGSOF<ailure> = RC downgraded to YC or YC downgraded to nowt
Amended to;
So DOGSOF<ailure> = RC downgraded to YC or YC downgraded to nowt (i.e. genuine attempt to play the ball in the PA)
Hence, the correct answer is not listed --> No card
