200 (Photo credit: Wikipedia) The draw has today taken place for the football competition that forms part of the 2012 london olympics. I was keen to find out who I would be seeing at the city of Coventry stadium….Mexico vs Gabon get you excited! With all the talk of the Great Britain side and who it will (or wont more likely) contain. Its good to see that Great Britain is being represetneted by Mark Clattenberg, Simon Beck and Stephen Child. I was impressed with Ravshan Irmatov at the 2010 world cup and he seems to be well respected within FIFA, so maybe a good bet for the final. Infact I expect he may refere the England Great Britain vs Uruguay match. List of Mens Officials and Women s Officials. Related articles London 2012...
This Sunday is the last day of the premier league season and we have that rare treat of all games being played on the same day. Everything is pretty much wrapped up, however there is the chance that if Arsenal and Chelsea finish level on points and goal differnece nad goals scored, we will have a play off for 3rd place. Is that the most stupid play off ever, I do hope that it doesnt happen as I am sure someone will have the idea that we should have play offs to decide who wins the league as they do in Rugby Union. I know they had them in Holland but they have less European places so it does make more sense. I would rather head to head records come into play which would then see Chelsea finish 3rd. Anyway the appointments Chelsea v...

I haven't posted since October partly because I received some advice on running the blog and partly because I got busy. I got busy refereeing open age football, refereeing junior football, assessing promotion candidates, assessing Supply league referees (and assistants), arranging fixtures, appointing referees, tutoring new referees, appraising referee tutors and coming to a tough decision. Since October I've refereed with my body constantly protesting. It protested through sore joints, erratic heart rates and sleepless nights caused by number or and two on this list. I therefore decided after being appointed to a County Final (U16 4th Official) and local Sunday League Final (referee), that I would hang up my whistle. 14 years and 4...
As games are coming up, I expect there to be more blog posts since there is more to talk about but let’s see what time I have to unload them all! Road trip at the start of the week and a long one considering it was the first time on my own. Why you ask? To meet an Aussie! He had my… adidas 2014 kits of course. With the season ramping up and the latest World Cup around, I had to update my kit. The kits felt much lighter than the 2010 counterpart and so more comfortable. Only time will tell if that is indeed the case. My primary pair of adidas mundial team shoes which I use on grass had been looking worse for wear so I gave it a bit of a cleaning and in-sole replacement. I have found that other than colour fading, the in-soles have...
This part is almost exclusively for the weekend’s activities. Saturday I had a very interesting game on the Saturday. I had never officiated at this level before and it was a promising prospect. I had been fretting a bit about getting some business wear together because pre-game attire was a suit! I hadn’t worn one for years including a shirt. I’m so used to wearing t-shirts including at work because it just worked that way in my field of work. The closest I had got to was business casual for certain games. I ensured I had everything ready the night before so I could find it easily the next day and just in case I needed to borrow something last minute from someone. This photo isn’t great considering it’s on my wrinkly bed...
Swamped doesn’t even begin to describe the week I had. The worst part is that an identical week is coming at the end of October. It’s a storm that’s hard to prepare for. It’s a busy term. Monday and Tuesday were football days but playing. It’s a good change and playing at a higher division level sometimes shows some of the deficiencies I have while playing. Monday We were playing a very evenly-skilled team so it was a difficult match. The score went up evenly. In the last minute, we won a penalty while it was a draw. The ball was put in the back of the net and we needed to defend for the last minute. As fate would have it, we were pressed hard and off a corner kick, I stood at the front post. The ball was played in and kicked out...
I started this week doing a massive load of laundry. The season was over so “cross-contaminated” jerseys from using the same uniform holder could be cleaned and put into storage now. I was relieved to find that none of my adidas 2014 jerseys lost their velcro patches (I hadn’t stitched them this year). Clothes were hardly the focus of this cleaning. Shoes too! A good brushing and cleaning got all the artificial dirt, turf-dust and any mud off them. I also decided to retire my old pair of mundial team shoes since seams were beginning to tear. I may save them just for playing now. My current plan is flat shoes for turf (underarmour) and my pristine mundial team shoes for grass. These are the flats I have been talking about for...
