Weird One

Steve C

The Unfit one!
Just been doing a LOAF test online and it flagged up a weird one to me. Under law 4 if a player loses his boot during play, he can carry on. I didnt know this, i assumed it would be construed as dangerous play since he now has less protection of the most important thing to play football.

If his boot comes off and he gets trodden on by accident, itll hurt a hell a lot more which is the opposite of what we want isnt it?

Just a weird one in my eyes haha

The Referee Store
The laws, or rather the interpretation part, indicate a player can play the ball immediatly if he loses his footwear accidentally without being penalised. However, after that...

I am sure this was discussed at length recently.

Stating he may continue doesn't mean there are no restrictions - he can continue, but if he engages in a challenge (either as attacker or defender) or puts himself into a position where a defender wants to challenges, then it's PIADM
