VAR yellow card

Interesting scenario in the A-League recently.....player was sent off for 2YC. The 2nd yellow was purely the result of VAR intervention.

thoughts on this? I always took 'only red cards' to mean 'only straight red cards' - I always took that restriction to not just be about match-changing incidents, but to ensure the bar for VAR intervention is kept high

(incidentally it's not the first time the VAR has issued a YC in the A-league - previously they've issued a 1st YC)

Unless it was something in the penalty area, this means the VAR thought it was a straight red and the ref thought it was only a yellow. At least that would be the official reason.
