Hi All,

Just picked up the whistle and cards again after a couple years out due to wanting to play again and work commitments. I've decided that I want to try push myself as high as I can with officating.

With that being said, what tips do people have for their journey through the Levels starting at 7?

Get the basics right and ensure your fitness level is appropriate.

Get the games in quickly to progress 7>6 then 6>5 next season, both with Match Day Coach support; that will then ready you to apply 5>4, with observations. fitness test, etc.

Get your application for promotion in so all your games count from now. Half the battle of doing 7-5 quickly is getting in the matches

Be careful how you answer an observer’s questions. Don’t make a mistake in law leading to goal.

Don't ref one way when being observed and then totally different when not.

It must make promotion harder.

Fitness is a key criteria for operating at higher levels. Football at L4 and above has never been quicker than it is now, so you should try to be the fittest person on the pitch.

Other things can be thought to you, but you have to do the fitness training yourself.
