The Ref Stop

Sin Bins - are you finding they help?

If you're sin binning someone in less than 20% of your adult games, in most leagues you really are copping out.

This is absolutely not true. I haven't sin binned a player for more than two seasons and I promise you I am not letting dissent slide.

It helps that I've been refereeing in the same adult league for 10+ years so there are players on almost every team who "know" me.

I love sin bins precisely because they are extremely effective even when they are not used. If you make it clear they are getting binned next time they chirp up, they shut up. (I would never be explicit about this, but nevertheless make it clear). Particularly effective if you've brought the skipper in, nobody want to be down to 10 men.

I honestly find it possible to believe noone has crossed the line in 2 years of refereeing.
Maybe all the d***heads are up north!

Plenty in the South still.
I observe Level 3 referees, Level 4 referees, and 5>4 candidates and in the latter two categories I would estimate thete is a sin bin once every 2 games here in the deep south.

Do you see as many cautions for dissent in step 3/4 games as you do sin-bins further down?

14 sin bins here so far this season… been one of those years. Averaging just under 1 every 2 games in the middle

Worried if level 3s are using the sin bin once every other game 👀

My dissent cautions were trough the roof last year. Had none this year with the new participant behaviour stuff.
