I could be wrong here, but I think at the time the LOTG required the ball to at least travel it's own circumference first from an IDFK or something like that. (?)
Just googled it, and I was wrong. Apparently it was because the guy flicking it up with his heels was adjudged to have "double-touched" the ball in order to achieve the flick so that Hunt could volley it...
