where is the best place to get a referees kit? also, I have heard that some people say the socks need to have a white band at the top. All refs' socks I have seen online are all black.

Don’t worry about white-top socks. That’s very VERY old school.

Sports shops (like sports direct) do cheap back up socks, like 2 pairs for £5.

Their cheapo Sondico plain black socks are comfy as! Four pair of those for £11 sees you right through a season.
