hi everyone. could i tap on your experiences to recommend a new pair of boots for me. for the past few months i have been using Nike Tiempo Genio II

But i find that i am having pain in the shins (i suspect shin splints)
Anyway i have decided to invest in a new pair of good boots and want to know what people experiences and recommendations are. i don't play so its only for officiating.

i am leaning toawards Nike premier, Adidas Kaiser 5, Adidas Copa Mudial or Puma king.

Any advice will be much appreciated

For years i was a massive fan of Nike Tiempos as they suited my flipper feet perfectly. Although last season i bought some Kaisers both moulded and studs and they are by far the best boots ive owned

Copa Mundial for me, fairly expensive but they are the most comfortable for me.

Although I've recently bought new astro boots, and they are the dog's do dahs. Adidas ACE 16.3's, it's like running around in a pair of old comfy slippers.

So when the Copa's go to the boot graveyard I may well be switching over to the moulded equivalent of the S3

I've also just bought the Adidas ACE 16.3 and they are very comfortable.

I'm not sure they will help with shinsplints. You need to get checked out for under/over pronation and an insert might help - but don't guess, ask a professional. The coming months of rain (and therefore softer ground) will probably help too.

Yeah, I would agree with that. They are very lightweight with not a lot of cushioning. I'm also not sure you would get a replacement cushioned insert in them as they are very tight fitting.

I was working with a compression clothing company and got a load of their gear. I already used compression shorts for years. Well impressed with their calf socks that they claim can reduce shin aggro. I've been wearing the calf socks under the ref socks and they do feel great.

Nike Premiers.

My soft ground ones fit like a dream, however I have found the firm ground ones are a bit tight fitting

I have a pair of Adidas Gloro 16.1 FG. By far the best pair of boots I've owned. Extremely comfortable and so far after a few months of use are still in mint condition. I've had issues with previous boots splitting at the sides (I suspect too much crabbing), but these are still in top condition. I would definitely recommend trying these.

I have Nike Tiempo boots. Very comfortable and not quite as expensive as Nike Premier's. The inside foot has white on it but adds a little touch of modern onto them. May get some Nike Premier ones in the future

Copa Mundial all day long for me. I have ordered a pair of limited edition black outs which are like football boot porn. My current pair are in their 5th season and only just wearing out, i may even keep them going until May.

Nike Premier for me ... magical in the middle - although ive started to find not so great on the lines ...

after speaking to a few other colleagues, turns out a lot of refs don't wear the prem's for lines either

I had 2 pairs of the Nike Premiers, great boots but definitely not on the line.....had the sole split from the upper towards the end of Saturdays game.
Just ordered another pair for middles only

What difference does running the line make in terms of footwear? I never do it so I have no idea, and I'm curious.

I use Patrick boots simply because they suit my wider foot. They are moulders Astro boots- losing the studs has helped reduce fatigue related injuries too.

Nike premiers for FG and Adidas world cups for SG. Premiers are the best boots I've ever owned! I also have a pair of Nike tiempo astros which I obviously wear on Astro. As for lining, I have an old clapped out pair of premiers which I used to play in, they're already split down the sides but I'd rather carry on using them than ruin my new ones

I use Asics Lethal RS for FG and Asics Lethal Scrum Rugby Boots for SG. Comfiest boots I have ever owned. Have Nike Tiempo Genio III for astros. All suit my wide feet nicely. Thinking of getting a couple more pairs of the Asics as they're getting harder to find in UK at a decent price.

I have tempo's, they are fine when I'm in the middle I can do two 90 minute games without a problem, when it comes to crabbing, however, I will often get a pain on my toes and get blisters by the end. Also, destroy my calves, can hardly feel them by the end.
