Junior/Youth Reckless Tackle or me being harsh?

In my match yesterday a player threw himself himself in the air hitting the opposition player just below the knee, although the player didn't go in 2-footed but stuck both of his knees out and there was clear intent in the tackle. What do you lot think, I issued a straight red card to the player for using excessive force.

Sounds like you got it spot on to me. Sounds like the player had no control in the tackle.

Many complaints from his team?

Welcome to the site by the way :)

Thanks for the welcome, not many complaints from the team, only the manager and the kid's father, the best part was the look on the kid's face when the RC came out!

Kids need to learn that they can't get away with making challenges like that.

I totally agree, he's now banned for 3 matches, listen to this for the players history:
  1. Start of season - Get appendacitus (Sorry about spelling) - Out for 6 weeks
  2. Returns from that, gets an ankle injury - Out for 2 weeks
  3. Plays first match on weekend, Gets sent off.
Not a great start to u12's

will hopefully teach him but i hate parents and managers sometimes at any level, not all just the arrogant ones who might ask for an explanation back at the club house. then when you try they just cut in saying that didnt happen or your wrong!
