Picked up an injury already

So I've had two or three games and have plenty in the diary, but I've managed to turn my ankle taking the daughter to the park!!!

Thankfully, the bruising is up and the swelling has started to go down. Not too flexible at the moment, but I've got an U11 game I'm doing as a favour on Sunday so I'm hoping it won't be too tough a test on the joint.

I'm sure my NHS physio appointment will come through soon...

Get ice on it, keep it elevated and let Sunday's game go in case you do more damage. Don't spoil the start ot the season for the sake of doing someone a favour

Cheers for the advice - it's a regular thing and I can manage it quite well usually. A day or two of rest and it eases nicely. Already been told that it'll need sorting long term, but until I get the letter through to see the specialist I'm having to work with it.

As Brian said, ice it and take it easy. Although I should take my own advice but work isn't allowing for that at the moment. Can't wait to start physio to get my knee sorted. Just hope it works.

Got the full flexibility back in it this morning so I'm a happy camper. Although looking at this rain, tomorrow may be a no-go anyway!

I was hoping to pop out this afternoon to try and catch a game. Don't think I'll bother after looking at the weather

I was meant to be photographing an athletics event this morning. Not going unless someone can stop it raining.

I've tweaked a hamstring when training this morning. Started as cramping in my calf and then seems to have worked its way up :(

Off to the docs again this afternoon to try and hurry them along with my toe (they say I need minor surgery but won't give me a date, just keep saying I need to phone up every month to see if they have any spaces - which they admit is unlikely!) and get the knee/calf looked at again.

Hawksey, I'm not sure where you are, but I had a similar problem a few years ago with my toe. My local NHS hospital had a school of podiatry on site and they performed the wedge resection operation. I was able to approach them directly and have it done on the NHS.

The students perform the op under the guidance of a qualified doctor, allowing them practical experience, and the patient to be seen sooner than they would if they had to wait for a full GP referral.

That's what I'd like done. Unfortunately, my GPs operate their own minor surgery and won't refer me to anyone else, but won't give me a date or even put me on a list.

I didn't need a referral but went straight to the school and offered myself as a guinea pig for them to practice on. A possibility perhaps?

Seems I at long last have a reason behind my persistent injuries and dodgy joints - I have one leg shorter than the other. Nice to know what is causing it, but I now have to see physios, podiatry teams and have bloods taken to sort it and find out why it's shorter now (it had been checked before). Also found out I have over-developed leg muscles which means everything is permanently at maximum, even when I'm relaxed.

At least I can still ref while they're looking into it - just have to be careful on my feet!:)

Always good to know what the cause of problems are. My uncle has one leg longe rthan the other, and has a higher platform on one shoe.
