Was at a game today (watching, not reffing) and I just wanted to double check the rule regarding being offside from an indirect free kick, given for offside in the first instance.

Can you be offside, or not? I am asking as someone who has recently done their referring course was told you cannot be??

Yes you can be.

The only time a player is not offside for a restart is CK, TI or GK restarts.

Any free kick restarts offside is a possibility.

Memory tip; they are the restarts from when the ball leaves the field.

(OK, a KO is also from when the ball leaves the field, but the exemption isn’t needed there because players have to be on their own half of the field….)

I think I'll just remember CK, GK and TI 🤣 (and a legally taken penalty kick)

But a good observation from whomever who discovered it.

Who told you that? Not the instructor on your course, I hope.
