I'm a new ref but I don't think it matters which way you go, for the record I would probably go for SFP.

SFP. Not only challenging for the ball but in fact actually managed to get a (slight) touch on the ball before kicking his opponent in the head! A great clip to show those players who persist in a claiming a 'non foul' because they "played the ball"

Which clip are you watching? The ball is around waist height when, as Russell Jones correctly points out, the player actually gets a touch on it (with his knee or the top of his shin) before following through to kick the opponent in the head. SFP.
