How long do we have to submit disciplinary reports via WGS / when do suspensions start?

Some of you will hate me for asking this but I’m going to ask regardless.

Game today, home team playing a final on Tuesday. 9 mins in, away team striker 1-on-1 with keeper, who’s out of his box, tries to knock it round keeper who instinctively puts out an arm and handles it. Blatant DOGSO and therefore RC.

Keeper and his teammates concerned about him missing final, but to pre-empt any requests I tell them I have to put it through so don’t even ask. Game ends 3-1 to home team despite being down to 10 men for 80 plus minutes, and they’re good as gold (in fact, more than that they’re very complimentary about my performance).

To be clear, I’m putting the RC through but I feel bad so these are my questions:

1. When does a DOGSO RC suspension start? Is it 7 day’s time?
2. Is there a timeline that I have to complete my WGS disciplinary report within?

Many thanks.

Something that is very common in these instances is that clubs will appeal the red card even if they know it will be dismissed straight away, delays the punishment and is a bit of a loophole.

I believe they can only appeal if they have video evidence or wrong identity is the appeal.

Similar to what I said in another thread. There are two parties to this...
The team they are playing in the final are entitled to play against a team not including the (should be) suspended player.
Whilst being soft on the offending player you are not acting fairly to their opponents.

I do understand that James, hence asking the question to make sure I didn’t let my sympathy for the player mean I did something I shouldn’t.

WGS report has been submitted and given suspensions commence on the seventh day he’s clear to play in the final.

All suspensions from red cards start seven days later, even if the referee has failed to submit the report - the club and the player would be held accountable for not being aware of the disciplinary regulations should they play him when he should be serving the suspension.

Claims for wrongful dismissal have to be dealt with prior to the suspension coming into effect, so there is no way of getting around it.

Video evidence is required for Step 4 and above where discipline is dealt with by The FA, but is not required for Step 5 and below where it is dealt with by the County FAs. However, practically it is difficult for a club to provide evidence that a sending off was obviously incorrect without video footage, unless the referee was incorrect in law.
