I found the attached about the Bury player who died in the 1927 match. His widow apparently asked for compensation for the loss of her husband's earnings - this was in the days when people would earn more down the pit than playing football - and was awarded £600 (equivalent to £35,000 today). Bury appealed against the award.

That wasn't old Skool, that was a prison assault, complete pent up 'have some of that' retaliation for his broken eye socket!!..... Shocking tackle, terrible!!! That was a blue card!!!
