Similar yesterday while reffing a final pre-season for local vets team. Within first 10mins home defender leaps well to head clear from a cross, lands awkwardly and pops his achilles
 
Yep, combined with what appeared to be a fairly insignificant rut in the pitch. Just sheer bad luck I guess.

Won't be allowed to play on same pitch once it's soft under foot. Safety concerns and all that :stop:
 
Yeah, he hopped off the pitch with the help of his teammates, spent the next 40mins sunbathing whilst waiting for the ambulance. Spoke to both teams and all were happy to play on
