Under 14s match one of two for me yesterday.
Match one - good game, whites on top, score early and despite dominating for large parts of game and hitting the bar twice, reds are decent oppo and score remains 1-0 to whites until a couple of minutes from time when reds equalise. All routine stuff so far.
1 minute of added time left when reds break quickly, two v one, I look to see two red attackers beyond white defender, but obviously no idea if they were there when ball was kicked. Club assistant, who was very reluctant to do the job in the first place and whose flagging 'technique' & positioning left a lot to be desired, has half heartedly waved his flag. Despite him and me not being in a position to judge the offside, I took the decision to blow for offside on the (arguable) basis that its better to not allow an illegal goal than it is to call an incorrect offside. Few shouts from manager and coach but nothing too bad.
One of reds asks me 'How much are they paying you ref?' which earned him a yellow.
Thoughts on the 'offside'?
Please don't comment on the yellow, that subject (OFFINABUS) has been done to death on another thread.
Thanks all
