An "L" of a chance

Tonight, we witness a one in three million occurrence.

Liverpool topping the table is part of the story, but only part.

Conspiracy or coincidence? You decide!

The league leaders of the top five flights of English football begin with the letter L:
Liverpool
Leeds United
Luton Town
Lincoln City
Leyton Orient

I've crunched the numbers, so you don't have to:

Far be it from me to interject on stats quoted by Refchat's resident Carol Vorderman, but the human mind is fairly rubbish at spotting patterns where no pattern exists. The table toppers could've all started with a different letter (thereby dividing the odds by 26)
We could also extend this logic to identify a pattern whereby the table toppers end with the same letter, or are all United or City clubs etc
So there are endless patterns which get out attention and cumulative probability of all these random oddities = 'quite' likely!
Nonetheless, interesting :)

What are the chances of the club name of the table topper in PL start with letter L, second letter I, third letter V, forth letter E, R, P, O, O, L

Hmmm, let me see, one in 26x26x26x26x26x26x26x26x26. Too minuscule. It will never happen.
