7-6 Test

#1
I'm aiming to go to level 6 and I've got the written in 2 days time. I'd completely forgot about it and I'm not that confident for the test on the laws of the game. I feel my knowledge of the general rules is good but I'm still not that confident. I don't know if I'm just worrying or overthinking it, or just looking for some calming words. Please help.

As a quick fix you can use areferee.com which is a similar style to the questions you'll be asked.
You passed the laws of the game exam when you qualified, and again this one wont be too far removed.
As a long term fix, you do need to know the laws, and really ought to be in a position where an exam doesnt "scare" you. I would like to think if the FA called me in tomorrow I would be able to pass no worries. 1 way to do this is to read a law every night. E.g. sat law 1. Sun law 2. Etc. Round and round on a cycle. That way, you'll be ready to take a test at any time.

Some great advice there. I was on a game with a 5-4 candidate earlier this season who said he does one of those areferee tests every night.

I'll be doing my exam on 11th March. I found our County CORE exam last year pretty straightforward but just out of interest, is there a pass mark for the promotion exams?

All this. I read the laws a lot - definitely after every match and usually after someone posts on some incident here. The exams are not hard if you know the laws. I got 100% on 7-6 and one wrong on 6-5. The questions are worded a bit more difficult to make sure you truly understand the underlying law issue but arefeee.com does the same.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed but that website has a few incorrect answers, not sure if it is based on last year's laws or what?

Yeah occasionally, report the answer on the site if it's wrong, they're generally pretty quick at changing them

I was good at colouring in, kept inside all of the lines....
7 to 6 exam, pfft piece of cake no harder than your ref's exam
As long as he’s back tucked up in bed by curfew he’s fine. It’s putting the scooter on charge he forgets, built himself his own ramp recently too. He could do games and travel changing room door to care home door without any kerbs!

Don't mean this as a criticism, but every referee stepping out onto the pitch should know the laws back to front. You never know when a strange and not normally encountered event will occur in a game and you need to make a decision in an instant.

The test isn't difficult, but you need to be prepared and the key thing is forget about what you might do in a game and rather look at what is written in law. One that used to be on there was about what you should do if a player takes a throw-in significantly closer to their own goal than they should have done. Do you do nothing, have the throw retaken, or reverse the decision. In a game you might let it go, but the correct answer in law is reverse the decision. The pass mark is 12/15 or 70% unless it has changed this season.

As @RustyRef has mentioned you should be going out on the pitch knowing the laws, meaning you should fly through the exam. If you're not confident then it's time to grab the good book out and then pop onto areferee.com to test that knowledge

I've got my third test for 6-5 next month (pull d out of promotion due to injury on previous 2 attempts).

The tests are easy, and there's no need to worry.

There's nothing on them that is designed to catch you out, but you need to make sure that you read the question and understand exactly what it is asking you.

And, as Rusty said, it's as per the laws of the game, not what you might do during one of your games.

They're also multiple choice.
