The Referee Store
My mate/tutor is on there. What are the actual implications - can this lot now ref at conference level for example?

Where did you get that from and more importantly, where's the 5-4 list?

Level 3 refs at Contrib level (i.e Ryman, Southern, Northern) and assist on the conference

couple of guys I've been out with this year on the Yorkshire Pool on that list, good lads and good refs! hope they do well.

No North Riding or East Riding referees on there either. One individual from the Yorkshire Pool hasn't even been a L4 for long (3 seasons maybe).

All about knowing where to look on the internet ;)

5-4 letters will come out at the end of the week if they're on time. 4-3 letters came out yesterday. Not really fair to put the list out before the letters come out.

I've been out and lined for 6 lads on that list this season, from Cheshire and Manchester.

I thought 5 of the 6 were absolutely excellent to be fair.:)

Not at all surprised to see one of the Middx names on there - been out with him a couple of times a few years ago when he was still a 7 and was obviously going to go far - nice guy as well - won't work with him again now of course!

Well we should never judge a referee by one performance - the guy I know on there was absolutely dire in the FA appointment I assisted earlier this season. We had to escort him of the pitch at the end as both benches wanted a piece.. Clearly he was better than that one game showed, so well done to him.

I know at least one on the list who is in their first season as a 4......

If you're good enough, you're good enough. In my experience of working with Level 4's if they're not good enough they quickly get found out. You can get to Level 4 and be found out to not be good enough, but once at Level 4 it's pretty difficult to blag your way to Level 3.

Yes I noted that, hopefully get a few north/east riding lads up this year...won't be me mind! 4 assessments already, 72.3!

My money was on two of the Cheshire lads. Both deserved it. You have to let me know the one who wasn't absolutely excellent!

100% agreement from me on that, although it does show the folly of buzzing some guys 7-6, 6-4 in consecutive seasons, as they are often the ones who get caught out.*

*Caveat - purely based on personal experience. I will admit to some snarky enjoyment when 2 such "rising stars", treated all their fellow 7's and 6's like dog-dirt got found out pretty quickly and jacked the whole thing in.

MG was the surprise for me - I thought he already was a 3! Shows what I (don't) know. Well pleased for the Secretary of my RA though (the other chap).
