‘Easy’ game

Has anyone ever had an experience where you don’t get any stick, or even appeals in a game?

I had one today and I found it actually really difficult to manage at times. Where no one was appealing for a foul or giving me any dissent at all following a decision I started to weirdly question if I should have given the fouls at all.

Very refreshing to have a game like this but also strangely odd.

Off to a county cup Sunday league tomorrow.. not counting my chickens..

Yes. I can't recall the exact details but I remember coming off wishing more games were like it...

Then thinking no, actually, I want to be tested with my decision making etc!

One every so often is nice though.

Yes. I had one 3 weeks ago that basically made me feel useless. Safe to say I prefer the matches where I have to pretend I’ve not heard comments (within reason, obviously). It’s nice to know not all teams think we’re awful but at the same time, it feels more satisfying knowing I’m fine when they think I’m not!

I find the academies are the weirdest when it gets to cut season around January. 22ish people competing for one maybe two places.

The lads are all worried sick, dark nights and they are far too focused on everything else to bother the ref.

All the coaching staff writing notes in silence. Not a person gives a damn about the score.

Scarily quiet. I feel like an exam invigilator.

8 YC and 2 RC whilst winning 5-1?!? Some teams...!!! 😂
The team at the top of my Step 7 league are 12 points clear and are the dirtiest team by a mile 😂 40 yellows and 4 reds already this season (I think they've played 15 league games).

I’ve found a lot of low level women’s games to be like this. But then also occasionally a completely nothing tackle that isn’t even a foul will cause a fair amount of outrage 🤷

Women's football has enhanced the game. It's a different game. In most respects anyway. My daughter wants to go and watch the Newcastle and I'm sure I'll take her sometime soon. But I couldn't referee the lionesses. They parade around the savannah like they own the place and I can categorically guarantee I'd upset them if I came out from under my tree. Seriously, refereeing the women's game is not for me. I'm a self-confessed dinosaur who thinks the world would be a better place if women weren't allowed in the bar down your local working man's club. I'd be on an FA charge for in no time for saying something unacceptable. Genuinely too, I think to be good at refereeing any particular flavour of football, you need to stick to the same games each week. Flipping between Step 5 men's and step 2/3 women would really muck me up. I'm not keen on reffing my son's u15's or doing Sunday League for the same reasons
