    Luminated paper

    Did you use glossy laminate?

    Luminated paper

I never thought of only using a single column for time. Has the general limitation of 1 entry/row ever filled up a card before the end of a game?

    Luminated paper

Of course, that's the whole point. Pen ink or sharpie removal needs a solvent like IPA, while the pencil just erases off. Write-on-cards are just laminated paper, there isn't anything crazy going on.

    Luminated paper

I make my own game and KFTM cards with 3mil matte pouches (glossy pouches are useless for this purpose). I binder clip multiple cards together for multi-game days and adequate stiffness, so 5mil is probably better if you only have use for a single card. While it isn't a pen, I believe a pegcil...

    The Wearing Of Non-Sports Glasses

I'm from the other side of America as socal lurker, but he isn't the only one with a dissenting opinion/experience. Here kids wear glasses, nobody makes a fuss, and I have never heard of a single incident of anyone getting hurt by them (although I've seen a couple pairs break). Once you get to a...

Hand versus Arm and Shoulder Ball

Straight from my most recent advanced clinic instructor in the US: you should only consider it handling when a moveable part of the arm is the point of contact. In other words, the shoulder is a joint, and while the arm can move/rotate inside the joint, the joint itself can't change locations...

    New money vs old money

You've never seen a player try to grab a throw-in/corner/goal-kick that clearly came off them? You've never seen a player do something cynical hoping the referee misses it? Here's my point, and it revolves around the fact that these players are professionals who know they can not deceive VAR on...

    tournament fees

Perhaps AYSO is more popular elsewhere in the US, but I have only heard of it through referee forums and never actually seen an AYSO team or event (I live in MA). I think it's fantastic that you can get good referees working regardless of the lack of pay; people should do what they want with...

    tournament fees

Just to drive the point home, the aforementioned Memorial Day tournament had over 1600 teams register (over 900 referees assigned to over 170 fields according to my assignor). The MINIMUM entry fee for U9 teams was $695 and the fee for U15-U19 teams was $1095. Even if you assumed every team was...

    tournament fees

Apologies for taking the thread off topic, but to hopefully get back on track it appears this is one of the many cultural differences we have. The tournaments here are very much for-profit, and the referees are an expected expense that comes from the tournament fees each team pays to enter...

    tournament fees

I did not mean to sound pretentious or whatever other connotation was pulled out of that reply, I was unaware that people overseas were working without getting paid or compensated in some other significant way. Do I love the game? Absolutely, that is why I work my ass off to be the best referee...

    tournament fees

Jeeeeez, I just finished working 7 games between two days for a Memorial Day tournament in the US and made $355, my hotel was paid for by the tournament, and food/water was provided. Sounds like y'all are getting screwed unless there is some other incentive that makes it worthwhile for you.

    3 games

I just got home from the last weekend of pre-season college [university] showcase tournaments in the US; I worked eleven 80 minute U16-19B games in two days (5C 6AR). Yes, it's way too many games, and no, I won't be taking that many games again. A three-game set is the norm for non-adult...

    Defenders want advantage

This happened at one of my last matches of the Fall season during a College (university) Showcase. My 2nd center of day 1 was a U17G game. About 20 minutes into the first half there's a clear careless tripping foul in the box but the attacker is going away from goal with no chance to score so I...

Open Age "You caused that lino!" "That's your fault!"

While I agree with the majority of your points, I think there may have been a misunderstanding. Unless I'm misreading it myself, it appears as though the direction of their signals was in sync.

    Incident today

I'm in the US so there are a good number of differences, but having only one coach on the sideline is not out of the ordinary, although it becomes less and less common as you increase the level of play. Again, here in the US local ROC generally spell out what to do (here's an example from a...

    Incident today

In my experience local and competition ROC have usually stated that if no other coach/administrator from the same club with valid and acceptable coaching credentials can take over than the match must be abandoned or forfeited. Some random U13 coach should most certainly not be assumed to be a...

    Incident today

My decision would change depending on the temperature of the match, the setting, if and how well I knew the guy, and of course, my mood that day ;) The reason I didn't give a direct answer to the original question was because there are too many unknown variables, and obviously, I don't know why...

    Incident today

If a manager's head is off he isn't going to want to have a calm and polite conversation... When a manager speaks out, you either you ignore it and move on, you warn them that the behavior needs to stop, or you allow them a minute or two to retreat to the parking lot before abandoning the match...
