    Reffing games involving family

Don't do it. In my referee branch, we fill out a conflict of interest form at the start of each season, clubs we have an affiliation with or children/family members playing for. We don't get allocated to those clubs, makes life simpler.

    Worthy of extraordinary report?

Indeed. So hard to judge from the written description.

    Worthy of extraordinary report?

I don't either get it right either, but in this instance I don't consider this one overall instance. Sounds like the player had fair warning. He's had the caution - which is "do it again and you are off".

    Advantage: 'Play on!'

I like a big loud "advantage", the same as I like a big loud "No" after appeals for handballs, fouls etc

    Dissent & Sin Bin

Of course. I gave a Lemon for dissent for a player saying "you don't know the rules ref" early on in a game last weekend. Young player in a Sunday league team. He took the caution and didn't say another word the whole game.

    Dissent & Sin Bin

    I like it.

    Dissent & Sin Bin

I agree with this. "Never Offside Lino" may be a comment made in frustration of the moment. Of course it's dissent but if made in the heat of the moment, not loud or directed or accompanied by gestures, I'd tend to have a quick word, if that was the only dissent by that player so far, and get on...

New York City v New York Red Bull

In the Derby to boot. The officials are all wearing comms as would be expected at that level, so I'm surprised, but from the article it does seem like he over-rules the assistant. Given that, I'd expect that he also signalled for a throw in and because they are miked up the assistant would also...

    Biggest difference between kids-adult games

Apply the laws, otherwise why referee the game, they can can get any geezer with a whistle to run around. Problem with "common sense" is that it's not common.

    Junior/Youth Possible OFFINABUS and dissent?

    This, exactly. Ask, Tell, Send.

    Controversial in polish league.

Yellow for me but wouldn't argue with any ref who tells him to walk. Good call by the Polish ref without the benefit of a replay.

    Taking a Break!

I agree, if the enjoyment has gone, take a break. Your experience on the FOP will no doubt be missed, hopefully you will come back to the game in good time . As a new referee (Level 4 - Australia) who has played the game all my life, I have been a little shocked by the lack of respect in the...

So, I feel like I became a poorer referee as I got older....

K First Post on here. Keep the faith. Speaking as someone who's newly minted (Have done 7 games so far in the middle, first Seniors game this afternoon..) I passed my Level 4 and fitness last month), we absolutely need experienced and conscientious referees like you in FFV and in Australia.
