    SCO HUN

Can’t lean into someone running into the back of you whilst running forward yourself. He slows sure but he’s in control of the ball and entitled to do so without being barged into from behind

    SCO HUN

Agreed, think he may have been offside? Hence the lack of VAR review

    SCO HUN

Hard to see how that isn’t six of one, half a dozen of the other. As opposed to the penalty challenge which is just the Hungary player running through the back of him. I think if we are choosing to punish either challenge then it must be a penalty.

    Tossing of the Coin

I’m sure you’re joking! But just to deploy my inner @JamesL and for anyone considering this: don’t, it will get you suspended

    Tossing of the Coin

I always catch, despite being autistic meaning I drop every 5th catch. A quick “one too many at the bar” genuinely saves me looking a tit. I’ve not seen many top level pitches up close but some of the grassroots games I do the grass is so long you’d risk not seeing it and having to bend down...

    Goal or not?

Hard to tell because of the post and the angle isn’t dead on. I’d lean towards no goal because there is probably some overlap with the line given the post is obscuring some of the ball.

    Serbia v England

Thought the whole team did well, would've been harsh on Serbia as a physical side to have a lower bar for physicality. I also do the point for fouls on occasion (usually if pulling back or blowing when several fouls have occured)

    "Undermined his authority"

This has lots of cross over with how we support referees from any background that isn’t the “norm” and there’s a lot of improvement to be done there so we have a deeper pool of talent and don’t lose otherwise very good officials over a few skills that are absolutely fixable.

    Promotion Scheme U-Turn

Start of this year I was still raising the flag in the wrong arm for offside! A good Level 4 put me straight, definitely need that experience

    Promotion Scheme U-Turn

3W changes are excellent news IMO, some treating it as an aside to the Men's pathway to fill gaps in the calendar or because going from 7-4 takes time. Women's games commitment is trickier because some areas the pyramid is just barren but again, a good test of commitment

    "Undermined his authority"

As a player I quite like refs like this but as an AR for them I spend many moments cringing, knowing they're going to cause issues. Sadly for them! Edit: Really, considering he's a good official, he should be getting support to help with these cultural issues. It's far more fixable than I think...

BBC article - Ex pro's wanting to be referees

Where is the line then for “playing the game to understand it”? League 2? How many appearances are needed? A salary level? It’s a ridiculous assertion anyway when a former banker became a football manager and managed several top clubs.

BBC article - Ex pro's wanting to be referees

A pro is definitely a level above when it comes to physically applying that on a pitch. At least initially.

BBC article - Ex pro's wanting to be referees

Those examples are quite right but maybe the use of Physician associates vs GPs, but that's more conflicting roles rather than fast tracking. There are ways to fast track a law qualification to some extent, those with existing degrees do conversions rather than a whole undergrad. Playing...

BBC article - Ex pro's wanting to be referees

We have ex players at the top already and it doesn't help

BBC article - Ex pro's wanting to be referees

I tweeted (and got a bollocking from footie twitter) that the PGMOL statement announcing this talks about improving the access for people from underrepresented backgrounds is odd because we 1. already have ex-professionals at the top level, I'd hazard a guess that there were more of them than...
