    City vs Chelsea

I'd agree with you for games in Europe, but less so in England.

    Everton - Forest

Fair point, we don't know what was said on the comms though. Pretty sure we will find out as they will have to share the audio for this one, although perhaps not in the next show. My guess would be that even though he didn't win the ball, the contact was normal football contact and didn't...

    Everton - Forest

It probably didn't help matters that it was the same defender, Ashley Young, involved in all three penalty decisions. The first one would have been soft at best, I did expect the handling to be refereed, not because I thought it was handling rather than I've seen them given many times this...

    Everton - Forest

That's my take as well, the tweet was put out straight after the game. That isn't the sort of thing a junior social media admin puts out, it has almost certainly come right from the very top of the club. Makes me think it was prepared in advance in case any decisions went against them.

    City vs Chelsea

I don't think was a handball now and I don't think it would have been 15 years ago. He was jumping so his arms will come up, the arm hit the ball as it was coming back down, I just see that as a normal footballing action. I know some say that he knew the ball was going between him and the...

    Everton - Forest

Points deductions should come in here. In effect they have openly accused both the match officials and PGMOL of corruption, they cannot be allowed to get away with that without a very serious sanction.

    City vs Chelsea

Why would it have been handball 15 years ago?

    City vs Chelsea

That shot isn't anywhere near when the ball hits the arm though, by the time it hits it is down towards his side, and the contact is so minimal none of the match officials even see it.

    Lille vs Villa

That's what he claims, but ... It isn't his job to organise replacement balls I think he is just using that to justify what he did, rather he was just trying to rile the crowd.

    City vs Chelsea

He had his arm on the shoulder of the person next to him in the wall, he then jumps and as he comes back down his hand falls towards his body, that to me is an entirely natural position. Had he left his arm out horizontal and the ball hit it then I would say penalty, or had his arm gone the...

    City vs Chelsea

That isn't what the law says though. At the time the ball hit his arm it was in a perfectly expected position for the footballing action being undertaken.

    Lille vs Villa

There's no doubt about it all, he is suspended as he picked up 3 cautions. 1 in the 1st leg, one in the 2nd leg, and another in KFTPM in the 2nd leg.

    Lille vs Villa

Yeah, that was the Ollie Watkins one, I have no idea what the referee was doing there.

    Fast tracking

There have been opportunities for promising referees to get extra help for as a long as I can remember. The names used for it have varied through things like centre of excellence, development group, FA Core, referee development group, but the premise has always been the same, identify referees...

    Interesting observation

Completely agree, but on the same basis the observer shouldn't be putting something significant in the report that wasn't discussed in the debrief. Just as there are some poor referees operating there are also some poor observers.

    FA Cup Replays Scrapped

The EFL have issued a statement pretty much accusing the FA of lying, saying there has been absolutely no discussions on this since last September and that this was a decision taken just between the FA and EPL.

    FA Cup Replays Scrapped

Agree it doesn't happen that often, but don't really think that is the point, there have been many cases over the years of a minnow getting a draw and bagging a lucrative replay. One significant case was Exeter around 2005, they were drawn away to Man Utd who spectacularly underestimated them...

    A question about penalty shootout

I would only be allowing a different ball to be used at grass roots if the first ball was somehow lost. Would have to be one hell of a bad penalty to lose the ball, but suppose it could happen.

    Interesting observation

That is certainly odd and probably would stand up to an appeal. I can only assume one of two things, most likely is he asked one of your ARs during the game what was covered in the pre-match instructions. Or the other is he has done multiple games before writing them up and has mixed up...

    Lille vs Villa

Not quite got him off the hook. The caution might not have counted as a second one, but it does count as a caution so he is now out of the semi-final for receiving three cautions. So at least some level of karma.
