There are some whispers going around that there will be no fitness tests this year for referees and the guidance seems to be:
If you passed a fitness test last year, then you won’t need to do one this year, however fitness will be considered as part of the assessment criteria.
If you didn’t...
According to the BBC Bournemouth are considering legal action around the non allowed Goal in the Sheffield United v Aston Villa game. Had the goal been given, it would have meant that Villa got relegated not Bournemouth.
IFAB laws are clear, but it could get messy, especially with the amounts...
Just wondering what the best ground you've refereed at is and what the biggest crowd you've ever had at one if your games.
For me the best ground was St Mary's Stadium home of Premier League Southampton and it was in front of just over 1200 people.
I got appointed to a County Cup middle where I'll have a 4th official as well
I've done plenty of games leading a team of 3, but never one with a 4th before.
Typically in a 3 the senior AR keeps the match record in case of needing to come on. I know the 4th official will do this, but is there...
Daily Mail is reporting that Andy Madley and David Coote both failed the FIFA fitness test. However apparently both were suffering...
Couple of interesting incidents last night as Derby lost 3-2 to bottom of the table Luton Town.
They scored an own goal in the 86th minute to go 3-2 behind, then a minute later the referee adjudged one of the Derby players to have made a deliberate backpass that the GK picked up, giving an IFK...
Some of the older hands may remember @Grayson from a few years back.
He was kind enough to spend some time with me just after I'd completed my refs course in 2013, and I went to watch him prior to doing my first game, which was invaluable experience!
Today he was a CAR in the game I had and...
Had an incident on the line last night. At half time, one of the players from the losing team came close to crossing the line for dissent to the referee after the half time whistle had been blown and as the players were walking back to the dressing rooms.
It got me wondering, if you were going...
Just wanted to clarify this as had a situation in a game I was on the line for today.
Referee sin bins player for clear dissent. Player continues to argue and offer up more (borderline second caution) dissent on way off the pitch.
If the referee had deemed it to be additional dissent the...
So did my first pre season middle today.
Few thoughts on it and the law changes.
1) only once in the game did either GK play a short ball from a goal kick, which was received inside the 18. The rest of the time, the receiver was happy to let it leave the box.
2) management of having no...
Pre season fixtures officially starting now we're in July. Really looking forward to getting back out on the pitch starting with a pre season middle this coming Saturday.
It seems an eternity since the end of last season!
I heard last night that the FA has just released new criteria for 5-4 promotions for this season. Apparently some changes to the observation criteria including a new section on Game Understanding.
Anyone heard anything similar?
