    Villa v Blades

Yeah I get where you're coming from. Definitely right about potentially becoming reliant on technology

    Villa v Blades

I think it's almost a different game at that level though, in terms of the technology anyway. Imagine if he gave the goal, and it turned out that the ball was literally 1mm or less on the line and GLT was correct. Of course it did go in, but It wasn't more than a yard and also his view was...

    Villa v Blades

Hard to blame the AR. I wouldn’t like to say ‘that looked in, so ignore GLT’, especially when GLT has never seemed to fail before

    Heads or tails

Not really sure although LOTG specifically says ‘... the toss of a coin’. It probably doesn’t look great either as, other than the captains, no one will know what’s going on and it might look like you’ve forgotten the coin and are making something up and we know how spectators, coaches and...

How your fitness has changed as a result of Covid-19

I really struggle to run a lot when I'm on the line - I'd say the games where I do the most running (good standard of U18s football tends to be more competitive than the adults games I've been on the line for) are between4-5km. I never struggle in terms of fitness on the line and I'm never...

    Virgin Game

It is a strange one because then both teams might think you're an 'expletive' even though you've done the right thing and even helped one of them...

How your fitness has changed as a result of Covid-19

I got nominated to National CORE at the end of the season and had a goal to aim for throughout the end of the season and summer (being the fitness session on the selection day). It’s hard as a lot of referees (including me in some ways) have lost motivation to keep fit because their county cup...

    Virgin Game

For the handball, did the other team want a red? I’ve never had it, but seen it, when there is a red card offence (usually a DOGSO) and the opposition actually don’t want you to give the red cars. Must be a weird one to deal with

How long before Coronavirus impacts Football?

We were ‘flashing’ the cards (bad practice I know, but the games were very quick and didn’t need to take down names like usual) as they were mini games and it was both teams’ last game in the tournament so it didn’t make a difference at all, but you’re right - had it have been a proper...

How long before Coronavirus impacts Football?

I've been doing games at Norwich academy for a while and had very little dissent (even from the u17s), but I did another academy tournament with a few professional academies from teams around London. This was U13s and oh my word, the dissent was unbelievable! My AR was a L3 and couldn't believe...

How long before Coronavirus impacts Football?

I believe Denmark are planning on reopening a lot of non-essential businesses after the Easter holidays. As we seemed to be a bit behind everyone else, hopefully we'll start seeing the effects of lockdown soon with the number of cases falling in the next few weeks. The footballing authorities...

    Goalkeeper ‘dive’

Thoughts on this? Surely this could come under as a reckless challenge, possibly excessive force if he makes a big connection?

    20/21 LOTG Book

Anywhere in the UK you can order the 20/21 LOTG book? I could've sworn I heard someone say that it'll only be available to download (or maybe my county isn't offering physical copies). I saw a referee website in America sell it, but I expect extortionate shipping fees. As an extremely...

    Virgin Game

Ironically, my first ever red was for a double yellow. First was for a shirt pull and I booked him after the ball went out of play (still happy about that one...) and the second was for dissent, even though I could've easily had sent him off earlier, I was just too lenient as it was my first red

    Keep you entertained

I remember before my first AR game, I was watching the on/offside videos which were really good. I've been looking for referee training videos, showing red/yellow cards, penalties, etc, but could never find a good one, but these are perfect

They think it's all over ... It is now!

Malden & Tiptree have played 27 and won 27. Mathematically, they had already won promotion a few games ago, but now they're not going up - makes absolutely no sense for them

    Bear Hug Red

Agree with @one . Not a fan of the carding technique - especially the one early on where he flashes it to a player who isn't even in shot, without saying a word to him

    Keep you entertained

Found this channel on Youtube that's just packed full of key match match incidents from the MLS. Seems like they've stopped posting but it's still got hundreds of interesting clips that have been keeping my referee mind busy https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_Ba5iDNpuPJqxH17NPbBCA

How long before Coronavirus impacts Football?

All County Cup Finals have now been postponed in our county. Wonder if they’ll be rescheduled. I’m gutted about mine, but feel more for the officials and players who got a CC final at Carrow Road, which is often a once in a lifetime for some of the players
