Open Age After almost 8 years - It's Over!

My game yesterday, the teams spent over an hour clearing grass cuttings from the pitch.

Open Age After almost 8 years - It's Over!

I take it the game with 5 reds for one team was a set up, how did they work that out?

    First game back

Thanks, it was actually good to be back. It was a division 3 Sunday league game, so wasn’t a great standard or really fast or anything like that, I think I’m just a bit rusty. I think I might have gone in a bit over confident, approaching it as a normal game when I should have been a bit more...

    First game back

I had my first game back after a 2 season break today. I think I had a bit of a mare. I didn’t lose control of the game, nor did I drop any huge clangers or go insane and do something that was wrong in law etc. I just felt I was always behind play, with positioning being off, and not reading...

    Match dress

It’s quite a rare occasion for me to have to wear a suit to a match, and while I don’t have any issues with it I think tracksuits are the way forward. It more convenient, fits our role as participants in a sporting event, and is much more comfortable for driving in etc.

    Luminated paper

Here in Sunny Kent I had a game that when I turned up the pitch was ankle deep in freezing water/melting snow and the facility didn’t call the game off.

    Kit Supplier Suggestions

I second the RA Store I’ve used them in the past. Any one know why A&H have stopped supplying Nike kit?

4 player fight not reported and they were replaced!

It doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Ive seen a few referees over the years who were more interested in making their lives easier in the short term rather than thinking about the longer term impact of their not putting cards in etc.

    Shin Pads

which is strange, as the laws just say that players must wear footwear, and that any equipment players wear must be safe. There is nothing about the type of footwear, studs or anything like that. for shin pads it says that they must provide “reasonable” protection but doesn’t give any guidance...

    Shin Pads

I wasn’t planning on looking for trouble, this particular chaps shin pads caught my attention as they were/are so small.

    Shin Pads

A random question that has been rattling around my brain since the start of the season: How do we (can we) decide whether shin pad provide suitable protection? while watching Gillingham vs Lincoln I noticed one of the Lincoln players had teeny tiny shin pads that looked like they covered maybe...

    Cards during a friendly

That would not surprise me. I ran the line once and the referee didn’t give a nailed on caution, his reasoning at half time was that he didn’t want the hassle.

    Online Training Resources

Thanks all. just trying to brush up as it’s been a while since I last blew a whistle so want to make sure I’m on top of any changes etc.

    Blood pressure

It’s just an arse covering exercise in case someone keels over during the test.

    Apple Watch Battery Life

Thanks all, sounds like it should do the job just fine. The polar will get relegated to the desk draw. It’s a good watch, but I just don’t need the bells and whistles, and I don’t do anything that needs the superior battery life.

    Apple Watch Battery Life

I got an Apple Watch series 6 a few months ago, and as I’m not currently doing long distance/endurance events or training it has taken the place of my Polar Vantage as my regular GPS/Activity tracker, and I’ve been really happy with it. For those of you who use an Apple Watch when refereeing...
