    Done with men’s football

Oh no they don’t, it’s just that refs at the top “didnt hear it”.

    Referee's whilsle vs penalty rebound...

correct in law, badly managed. I had this once (a penalty right at the end of a game) and I made it very clear to the players that the game was over once the kick was completed.

    Body Weight Training Plan Recommendations

I’m finally at the point where I am going to start working on my fitness with the aim to be ready to go for the first game of the 23/24 season. I dislocated my kneecap again at karate last June, which kept me out all of the 22/23 season and severely denying my confidence (I.e. the worry that...

    Pre match chat with teams

Nothing. I have a very quick chat with the captain at the coin toss, that’s it.

    SInbin in use Grassroots

That’s what I do, just after they were first introduced here I just pointed out to them that all clubs had to send at least 1 person to one of the training sessions.

    SInbin in use Grassroots

Coaches know, they’re just trying to mess with your head hoping that they will gain some sort of advantage.

    Flexibility about throw-in location

It’s probably more than a yard or two, I don’t get a ruler out to check.

    Flexibility about throw-in location

I’m fairly relaxed about throw in placement, if the ball goes out at the halfway line then I’d probably let them get away with a yard or too either side. I tend to get stricter on it if teams are acting up, and use it as a way of reminding them who is incharge.

    The Heat

Back in 2019 I asked a similar question when the temperature as forecast to hit the high 30s. I remember plenty of people poo-pooing me and saying that they wouldn’t cancel a game if it was too hot… I asked my RDO if there was a policy on high temperatures at the time, he said he’d look into...

    Hawk-Eye

I just don’t see automated AR working anytime soon. It’s not just a matter of programming the AI to be able to keep track of every player on the pitch along with the ball whilst also judging the exact location a player is when the ball is played, whether they are in an offside position and...

    Gillingham Vs Fleetwood double red

incidentally Gillingham intend to appeal the decision. I doubt they’ll be successful, but even if he gets a longer ban it doesn’t affect us as he’s on loan and we have only 2 games left. mad for the theatrics, he was outrageous, if he didn’t get a red he should have got an oscar

    Gillingham Vs Fleetwood double red

It was hard to tell, there certainly wasn’t anything in the way of afters, unless Kelman (the Gillingham player) said something to either the ref or the Fleetwood player afterwards between the challenge and the cards

    Gillingham Vs Fleetwood double red

I sit sort of opposite to this angle, and the Fleetwood player certainly used excessive force, and from this angle it looks like Kelman did too. I was going to come on here and ask a similar question, as we (Gillingham) got a free kick. I assumed that in the absence of any afters etc that two...

    Buzzer flags.

I’ve got a set of non electric touchline flags, they’ve been at the bottom of my kit bag for a few years.

    Open Age Jewellery Check

I normally have an informal check while the players are warming up. I don’t like the whole getting the teams lined up like children routine, and at parks level it’s not really practical to hang around outside the changing rooms.

    Considering hanging up the whistle

Thanks, yes I had stopped doing Sunday mornings previously, and I was doing mens football on Saturday and ladies on a Sunday afternoon. i went back to Sunday mornings as it was the only real time I could reliably organise childcare. Saturday afternoon games were few and far between due to...

    Considering hanging up the whistle

Yeah, having had sometime to mull over the decision I am definitely out for the remainder of the 21/22 season. I might see how I feel come the start of next season, doubt I’ll ever go back to Sunday morning football though.

    Considering hanging up the whistle

Oh I’m not expecting rugby levels of respect where it’s all “yes, sir” and “no, sir” and I know that tempers will raise and that people will disagree with decisions and that sometimes you will get players who won’t listen to you or their team mates and are a waking card. But it seems like this...

    Considering hanging up the whistle

Yeah, it wasn’t an easy decision to come to, but it got to the point where I was dreading games in the lead up to them, and then miserable and pissed off afterwards. it was also getting increasingly difficult not to just tell players what I thought when they were arguing the toss about a...
