We have the first big moment of this match after the madness preceding it. Do we think this is offside or not

That's a tough one that. I was thinking Fabinho, deliberate play? Or is it a save? Wouldn't like to have been the VAR.

No question Benzema was in an offside position.
YouTube coverage wasn’t great to show if the RM player actually played the ball rather than the 2 Liverpool defenders tackling each other.

It did look like Fabinho deliberately played the ball. Would have loved to have heard what was being said in that VAR room tho

Went RM player -> Liverpool player -> Liverpool player -> Benzema goal

I think it’s not enough for deliberate action so I think I can support offside

The one thing I was sure of was his offside position

Last touch towards Benzema was from Fabinho who slid in to make a tackle and took ball, which to me constitutes a deliberate play.

Reckon goal should have stood

Can a player play the ball to himself and be offside?

No doubt that Benzema is in an offside position for me, but he’s also the last RM player to touch the ball before it makes its way back to him via Alisson/Fabinho.

I think that's morally offside, and no one thought any different initially

That said I thought under var scrutiny it would be given.

You sure? Thought it deffo touched the other real player

No he can't. Valverde definitely played it.

I feel like an on field call stands has been made here.

Konate plays the balls as a clearance onto Fabinho, who knocks it to Benzema.

They screwed that up big time

For me last Liverpool player sliding in is a deliberate play…was surprised VAR didnt overturn, but can also understand why.
Maybe one the referee should be able to look at himself.
