Schoolboy error and complete lack of awareness to blow for full time whilst other end of the pitch from the changing rooms, worse still, an AR running to meet the ref in the middle, and only then realising the sensible course of action is to head to the tunnel.
No excuses esp with comms kit, dont even need referee knowledge here, just common sense

Proactive. From experience a better way to handle it is during the stoppage just before you are going to blow, give the ars a heads up via comms that the games over and to begin their run to the tunnel. Its a few seconds, but its a few seconds more than enough to get to a safer position.

Of course there are stewards and that kind of thing is, or should be covered with the match commander pre match

could and shoukd have been more proactive. Looked ridiculous the ar making a beeline for the ref, when tunnel was the only logical destination

I was on the line when we knew there was going to be a pitch invasion, and I was already 20 yards onto the pitch when the referee blew for full time. The 4th official wasn't quite as switched on and it took him 15 minutes to get back to the changing room, minus the ball bag and subs board that had been removed from him during the invasion.

These pitch invasions need to stop though. The actions of the Bristol Rovers fans in going onto the pitch whilst the game was still going gave them a massive advantage. By the time they restarted the Barrow vs Northampton game was over, so they knew that just keeping it at 7-0 would see them up.

The best way is to ban everyone who did so. Even the kids going on with their mates.

Or make teams play the next home game behind closed doors.

But zero tolerance doesn’t seem to sit well with many people which makes it harder.

I personally think an automatic 3 point deduction should be implemented. That will be the only way to stop it happening and trying to maintain competition integrity, with the safety of the officials and players put at the forefront.
 
It isn't properly policed. It is a criminal offence to go onto a football pitch, yet it seems to be tolerated when it is a "celebration".

Be interesting to see what happens if Northampton make a formal complaint, as the behaviour of Bristol Rovers supporters definitely gave them an unfair advantage.
 
With the score like that, and so obvious what was going to happen, you get the 4th to stick up 3 mins, and you make it known anytime after 2 thats that
Give the head police, steward etc the head up too

only good fortune saw nothing serious, we all know one idiot will take that one chance to hit an official though

Or make it totally legal at full time people will wait then and everyone’s happy

Something similar, my club (Middlesbrough) banned parents who sent their children onto the pitch at our last home game of the season a few weeks ago, after Chris Wilder complained that doing so ruined Boros control of the game in added time through an unwanted stoppage and resulted in conceding a late goal

I'd just like to point out that based on the reports I've read (and the club statement) for at least one parent that was banned, it seemed to be more because of his abuse of the stewards who asked him to leave the ground after the incident, rather than for simply encouraging his child to go onto the pitch (and then congratulating the child after he did so, which witnesses stated that he did).
