Red card?

The Referee Store
If it's a foul, it's DOGSO.

But .... everything about that to me looks like the tackle you would expect any defender to make, well executed and completely under control. It looked like that at full speed and the slow mo didn't change my view

If that's a foul, we might as well give in to Michel Platini and outlaw tackling altogether

i can only think the ref thinks it's a dangerous studs up lunge, which i can just about buy, but surely any look on VAR disproves it immediately

Great minds! I see you see the same thing!

from a bad angle, complete with the attackers reaction, the mind might well fool us into a dangerous lunge in real time, afterall our eyes will see the defender stretching in, boot slightly off ground, then the attacker dying.
To all intents and purposes, a bad tackle must have occured

to then get the luxury tho of watching it back and seeing the reality, then sticking with the red, is indeed ridiculous

actually, Having just watched that again, the referee has not called that real time

its the AR via comms.

yeah i thought that was also quite likely

yes, the ref is happy to follow the ball to the other defender then for no obvious reason goes back to the incident with the card.
the obvious reason to us of course beimg a shout of, red card

The bizarre thing is VAR tells him to go and check (aka you've got that wrong) and he stands by it.

Context is a relegation 6-pointer in Italy if you haven't seen the conspiracy theories ....

The defender gets the front foot of the attacker first before controlling the ball. DOGSO red for me (also reckless but that is the less serious offence)

Somewhat scruffy tackle (when viewed in slow motion), but 'my game' expects a 'round of applause' for the defender; and everyone goes home happy
Exactly this. Its a rabbit out of a hat.
Even on slow mo I am not convinced on a Foul here. Its a contact sport. He hasn't gone through the player to get there.

"When moving at speed it doesn't take a lot of impact to completely break the running mechanics."

The attacker had a perfect chance to play the ball first with his non landing foot untill it was taken from under him. There is no other logical explanation on why he didn't play the ball at that skill level. Even his face tells a story. No issue with contact if it's fair.

Was just going to say. Yes, there might be an argument for contact, but not all contact is a foul.

Personally, am not giving that as a foul, and apparently, neither is VAR. I think the AR dropped a clanger and the referee compounded it by ignoring the VAR bail out.

Agree.

Expected challenge made in the expected way. Everyone expecting play on, including the attacking team and seemingly the referee at the time. The lack of player reaction tells its own story. Ony AR has a different view, and assuming he is in line, he is looking through the players at any point of contact.

When it looks like a dog and barks like a dog ....

I have only just clicked who the attacker is.

which rubber stamps the case for exonerating the defender

no foul, no dogso

blatent cheating
