While not referee related, thoughts on this would be interesting.

Scottish Government bans matches

Thoughts of what should happen to the players concerned.

For the Celtic player who went to Spain, I think a 14 ban and 2 week fine should be the minimum. As he played, and was ineligible, there are grounds to void the match. Interesting to see what the next steps Nicola Sturgeon will take.

Cancelling/Suspending the season....?

The Referee Store
Are we allowed to comment on this as its not a refereeing matter? Will be very surprised to see Bolingoli in a Celtic shirt again.

Need to put a stake in the ground.

Player should be banned and fined. 6 games would be in line with spitting and aggravated abuse as a starting point.

If within 14 days any of the other players he’s been in contact with from opposing clubs become infected than that should be a further aggravating factor

Any games that the club can’t play because of it should be forfeit with opposition being awarded a 3-0 win.

Unless they have amended the league rules to cover Covid related breaches I don't see that the SFA can do anything. Of course though the players could and arguably should be prosecuted for wilful breaches of law.

Footballers in England have been pictured at BLM marches, or have said that they attended, and whilst I agree with the right to protest it is against the law as gatherings more than 30 people are illegal. What would have happened if, as as example, Tyrone Mings had picked up the virus and then passed it to his Villa team mates just as they were about to restart games?

But the club could be done for failing to fulfil its fixture, or causing postponement?

Not I suspect without changes to the league rules. They could argue that they would have fulfilled the game with players that hadn't broken rules, or even the youth team who had been training separately, and would certainly argue that the government ordered the game to be called off, they didn't refuse or fail to fulfil it.

The power of RustyRef . . . the SFA have an emergency meeting today to introduce new rules and punishments!
