Juve v Atalanta

Outside of the UK (and possibly the US judging by other threads) that’s always going to be given.

Personally don’t have any issues with it based on the picture. Although the arms are bent it’s increased his blocking size.

And this is why we need to go back to basics, was it deliberate, no, so it should not be an offence!

I think it's time to remove the word 'deliberate' from the offence. A large percentage of the handballs given as deliberate are not deliberate in the English meaning of the word.

Well, they really did. After last year's changes, we debated whether the "usually" phrases were attempts to define deliberate or something in addition to deliberate. The recent changes with the restructuring make clear that the extra stuff is an alternative to deliberate.

That first one is an easy penalty to give and even justifiable under the old(er) laws. The def puts arms to block the ball. Easy.

The second one I don’t get at all though. The ball is heading away from goal, the def is moving, the ball comes from close, it hits their arm which is out, but I don’t think the def is trying to make themselves bigger unnaturally... would like to see some more replays of the 2nd one...
