I'm heading back to a ground I'm not very popular at this weekend - it was the game I mentioned on here before about dealing with player intimidation. Obviously when we turn up it's a new game and we referee it like any other match, but what have you found works well when you're going into a potentially febrile environment?

All about looking confident. I don’t mean walk around like you own the place - but be as friendly as you normally are, don’t let up that things are getting to you. The second you let that slip they’ll pounce. During the game, strong body language and whistle technique, show you’re in charge from early on. Deep breaths. You’ve got this

Do what you normally do. I'd say place a particular focus on getting that first decision right. It will be very important to get that first card right too. An ill-timed award (or non-award) of a card is likely to cause match control issues if you have had issues previously.

This time be prepared for things you did not expect last time around. But don't expect thing you were not prepared for last time around.

Hope that makes sense.

I don’t know what your pre-match habits with the coaches are but here for anything but lowest level games we meet each team’s coach(es) and say hello and good luck, check the colours etc. I wouldn’t do anything extra or mention the last game but I would make sure I get in a strong greeting and a heartfelt good luck to both coaches. Shows you are serious, acting professionally, not bearing grudges etc.

How did it go @JBeil ??

It's on the 28th, this coming sunday.

Just checked full-time and the two problem players from last time are both suspended. I know that makes things easier for me but I was rather hoping I'd be able to manage the whole set well - shouldn't complain though!

Sorry mate. I assumed you were going yesterday. Good luck with it. It's just another game. Forget what's gone on in the past. Everyone gets a clean slate.

Ask @alexv if he can run you a line 😂

Been moved to another game - probably the wiser decision in fairness but still annoyed!
