Man City V Tottenham (20/04)

The Referee Store
Did no-one notice a Spurs player "standing on it" earlier? Anyway I guess Sterling assumed from the previous 90 mins that MO wasn't exactly keen on issuing cards.

You’ve hit on a really good point that is useful for us all. Right from failing to caution Aguero early on for as clear a reckless tackle as you get, any player worth their salt knows exactly what they can get away with, and will exploit it

Penalty, yes
Kit clash, yes
Handball, now no, world cup VAR yes, next season VAR no (saved by proximity, unexpected ball and silhouette, even though there’s a hint if hand to ball)

You can't say that mate!!
Any and all criticism of Sterling in racist!

I appreciate your statement may be light hearted but no one has ever said it is racist to criticise a players conduct on the pitch,no matter what race they are. Personally, I think the racist abuse Sterling (and many others) have had to endure is absolutely disgusting and should not be joked about. Sterling is a role model for younger footballers to take a stand against racism. Again I understand you may not have meant it in a bad way but it may be construed as such.

I still can’t believe the Tyne-wear derby is played in home shirts. It’s a nightmare to watch.

I’m sure they had the same colour shorts one game too.

Edit: they did, madness.

Sterling a role model?
Are you serious?
Ignoring his court cases and being a teenage father, Sterling is a complete tit. He also thinks the media's criticism of him is fueled by racism, InStead of his conduct and his AWFUL showing at the world cup.

Don’t want to start a debate but there’s nothing inherently wrong with being a teenage father...don’t equate age to recklessness

Raheem Sterling has been racially abused on several occasions, that is proven.

I'm going to leave this open but it needs to get back on topic, and posts like this one will see lengthy bans issued if they happen again.

Yes, he has, like a few others? Where have I said he hasn't?
What type Of post is that?
Please specify?

In 90% of cases it's not ideal.
Fair to say, Most parents wouldn't want their kid to have a kid at 16/17!!

Is there any thread on a City game where Sheffield Finest's obvious antipathy to City or Deusex's United eyes doesn't lead to the thread being closed?

(But It's true the media hate for Sterling wasn't racist - it's because he left media darlings Liverpool for City. Though why fans of every other club started booing him is harder to fathom...)

Now I'm happy to admit my blue-eyed bias but I really don't recall anything reckless from Aguero. When was that? Zinchenko thankfully missed with one sliding tackle in the first half but other than that I counted three Spurs fouls stopping a promising attack that didn't get cards.

I actually love City as a club, the rags to riches story is amazing, the poor man of the city with a noisy neighbour living on past glories..... Sounds so familiar!!! :)

The gnawing bit is the constant bleating for the slightest thing that doesn't quite give the expected 4-0 win.....One thing, win that blooming title and become the saviours of football from that more gnawing lot up the East Lancs!!

BTW, I had a kid at 18 and 21 and 26, not sure what the point earlier was making but it made me as a person grow up miles quicker! Don't regret it in the slightest.

Is there any evidence for this or is it just a sweeping generalisation? It’s completely irrelevant to a ref’s forum

6th minute I think, I’m a blue myself and thought he was lucky to escape without a booking. Even if it wasn’t, there are definitely a few as you say that would have been on another day. The players exploit that

Yeah the aguero tackle was a clear yellow, amazed he never gave it. Could easily have been the catalyst for everything that went on later in the game.

He played advantage then spoke to him when play went dead 60/90 seconds later.

I love it when people make up 54.26% of their stats just to fit the narrative.... :smoke:

My parents had their eldest at 17 so I'm no snob and any parent (which I am not) knows more about this than I do.
But surely everyone of you wouldn't want your kids to have one at 17? I'm surprised this is at all controversial.

And this has what at all to do with Man City, Spurs, refereeing or football at all in general? It certainly has nothing to do with refereeing so back on topic please.

Michael Oliver has a fine record of ignoring early nail on cautions. Match control (and his career) have always been more important than enforcing the laws of the game.
I see many refs at lower levels copying this trait where anything goes first 20/30
