The only time I get commented on my kit or boots are when they are brand spanking new and shiny. It's not a bad way for players/managers to break the ice with referees. I do the same with players.
Never had any other boots but Adidas. Apparel though is forced upon us by RA who have sponsorship deals with suppliers.

The pro refs are doing one game on good grass--I'd probably wear cleats for that, too. I use the Salomen Speed Cross on pretty much any surface. (I still have a pair of cleats in my closet, but in Southern California we don't get many wet grass fields--and when the grass fields are wet, they usually get shut down to protect the grass.)

It would mess with my OCD too much, ive got nike sweatbands and boots, as well as a Nike tracksuit and jacket i wear on matchdays.

And neither does anyone else. The players, managers etc, nobody cares what brands the ref is wearing. Wear £400 worth of Nike kit or £40 worth of unbranded kit, no one cares.
Whats the phases, All the gear but no idea.... @Ben448844 is spot on, learn your craft, the tech will come later...
And what happens when the FA changes their kit supplier - OCD overload or a massive buying session

Just as long as all three officials have the same sleeve length!

Sleeve lengths. Who bothers themselves with such nonsense? It cannot be related to professionalism in any way, shape or form. What an odd concept. Sounds like these types of ridiculous perceptions are leaving the game in the US which can only be a positive.
You'd be surprised how many refs ask about sleeves. Having worked in a lot of teams of 3 it's bizarre how obsessive some folk can be.
