Young Referee abuse

Whether you are hearing too much is something to think about--but especially with youth games, don't blank it out entirely. Parents are ruining the game for the kids by how they behave, and what we permit we condone. Keep removing those who need removing--perhaps it will help them learn appropriate behavior.

Aside: of parents I have had removed from games, about half the time I have been thanked by other parents from the same team. These parents that get tossed have typically been acting like knuckleheads all season to the detriment of the kids, and refs have turned a blind eye (deaf ear?).

Great point, and can I also add, although they might not come out and say it, you will find the kids deep down appreciate it too....

My son has done a few games and he preferred the kids to those pesky adults.. Not sure if he ever got abused??

Try engratiating yourself with the onlookers with some pre-match tomfoolery
Extend this persona into games and make sure the parents know that their precious little devils are in your safe hands

he shouted 'clearly a home ref then'.

Understand the referee is here is young however this is grounds for dismissal in my opinion on the coach - the coach has now brought the integrity of the referee into disrepute or otherwise calling him a cheater.
