For me it has to be

"It is not an offence to be in an offside position"

It’s like handball. On Sunday a poor lass got the ball blasted at her from 2 yards and it hit her hand. The other team couldn’t believe I didn’t give it.

I do try and educate if possible.

Recently

Player: 'It hit her hand'

Me : 'Yes it did I agree'

Player: 'Not handball then?'

Me: 'Not deliberate from that distance'

Player: 'I'll remember that'

Me (Thinking only this time) 'Good!'

it is unreal how many players do not know the hand rule.. i mean if the defender does not spread his or her arms out making him or herself as big as possible to block the shot from a close range, there is not much left to call.. play the f$%& on!

I had this on Sunday and i think looking back i probably should have given a pen.

The ball was smashed at someone from a yard or two away and no way could they have moved hands out the way but the hands were in a high position.

Split second decision i said no penalty if i had time again i probably give it.

Ah yes. Hand position is crucial.

All items of jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewellery is not permitted......

'But it won't come off ref!' I'll get some tape!!! :)

Yard or two away...no chance to move their hands... from this description definitely no penalty, play on

If the hands are in an unnatural position (like making themselves big etc) then there would be a good reason to give it.
OK - and where in the Laws does it say, "If the hands are in unnatural position, the referee must give a handling offence"?

I'm fairly sure the Laws actually say that "the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is an offence."

Where did I say he must?
There’s no need to be aggressive about it.
Read my post properly.

But it could... A player that puts their hands out to where they predict a cross or shot will go can still be punished if it is booted at them from 2 yards...

Wrongly punished IMO. How can you know where the ball was going to be struck and have time to react!
