Break it down is it really that unbelievable, off the top of my head I gave offside from a goal kick, I wasn’t sure of the re start when keeper picked up a back pass or the caution proceedure, I had a row with a manager whilst I was a Lino I mean really is it that hard to believe.
Granted last night took it to a new level but it’s the truth I stood there for 2 mins doubting myself so ran to my bag and googled it, Jesus Christ why on God’s earth would I make it up it’s not like u used some far fethched law it was handball for Christ’s sake.
I’ve sworn on my daughters life, I’ll post a pick of us one day, you see her little face & trust me any parent out there would know that you woudnt do that over a bloody debate on a referee chat forum.

MIB, What gets me is that, after having been a player over a couple of decades I assume, watched hundreds if not thousands of games, being a referee/AR for two dozen games or more and if memory serves me right passing a lotg exam with a good mark recently, you are not worried that you didn't know handball is a direct free kick but you are unhappy that you googled something in the middle of a game.

Saw a clip at the weekend of a game between England and Holland over 65s in the super vets walking football world cup. Dutch player shoots for goal and scores, ref doesn't notice as ball rebounds out of the goal via the stanction. Play on shouts the ref amidst the claims for a goal. Coaches into pitch, ref looking bemused so stops play and goes and inspects footage of the incident on a spectators camera before awarding the goal! Noticeably none of the England players fessed up that it was a goal, in fact one can even be heard to say "you can't use that to change your mind!" I think the ref was too busy ignoring all the blatant running that was going on to see the goal
You don’t have to be mad and a bit daft to be a referee but it surely helps!

I knew it was direct im human and new to the game, I’m not the cleverest on lotg & had eleven fully grown men swearing blind I was wrong, yes looking back on it I’ve seen thousands of handballs over the years and of course it’s direct, I guess I’m no better than the 22 players on the field last night because even the team that had scored had there doubts I don’t think you realise how the average player really has no clue about the law.
I struggled last night with quite a lot, It was my first adult game for a few weeks I’ve been refereeing youth footy lately which may be something to do with it, I was rusty & it took me a while to get going, it was the first time last night that I’ve actually questioned if it’s for me or not.

I really have got a lot of reading to do over the summer it just doesn’t come easy to me, I’m not academically gifted but at the same time I’m not stupid, I just struggle with it sinking in.
Hopefully I can get anymore horrors out the way in pre season & not when the season starts.
That moment aside last night I didn’t have a single issue with lotg, but I’m the muppet living these nightmares so I’ve got to be the one to put it right with revision and knowledge.

Yes and I’ve answered it before I passed getting 4 questions wrong.
I originally did everything right lastnite I just got caught in the moment & let players dictate and put doubt in my mind.
Instead of admitting you've messed up on a public forum you just need to dilettante a bit, I got away with it for few years!!! (TIP....You may need Mr Google again!!!)

Anyway, your score is wildly at odds with the tails you keep us entertained with. It's hard to tell from words on a computer screen, but i'm sure you're genuine and likely as colorful in the flesh as your tribulations portray. I'm imagining that you're like a rabbit in the headlights when challenged on your knowledge, leading to some ridiculous gaffs. Maybe you're experiencing a sudden rush of adrenaline and losing your marbles temporarily

Basically I got lucky with the exam, the last page I read in the car was all about pens low and behold there was like 6 questions on pens, I know the basic knowledge (obviously last night being an exception to the rule) it’s more re starts I struggle with.
So you say rabbit in the headlights it’s exactly that, the moment I’m challenged on a law I shrink like a dead flower.
Anyway my biggest issue at the moment is players appealing for decisions it’s becoming a real problem & im not sure if I’m in the wrong or them, from the first whistle yesterday one team appealed for everything I’ve had it in every game & I don’t think I’m coping with it well.
I’m seeing it as really offputing & border line dissent, am I supposed to just ignore every appeal for 90mins or is there something I can do about it?
Guys I’m having a massive problem with on pitch verbal & I seem to be coming off worst from it, I seem to lose every time & feel like a pr*ck!
I’m struggling to get my comeback accross with confidence and conviction I end up reverting to type which is as u can imagine not professional, I also can’t seem to let something go, a player ran past me last night and said you just warned there man come on ref act on it now stop letting them get away with it, I said what I do and say is my business not yours concentrate on your own game I’m not the one 2-0 down.

OK, so a bit of digging and there may be some sense to the madness. Maybe you ought to do some youth football before returning to open age after a few months. Most referees seem to jump straight into the deep end, but i found working with teenagers gave me room to get comfortable with the process. Then when the big lads came along, I coped OK when the volume lever was pushed, concentrating on the mental demands of the task; without having to worry too much about getting the Law wrong. That said, I gave a free kick on Sunday for a high foot without contact and neglected to indicate that it was Indirect, so none of us are immune to these errors (fortunately miles over the bar)
