Sorry to disappoint BC but with the exception of reckless challenges and SPA, that's where the majority of my yellows are dished out. It's a real pet hate of mine. 😉

I'd agree with on the pitch. But off the pitch??!! Where would you draw the line Jeff? When you blow the whistle for full time, do you concern yourself with making sure all 22 can get home safely? Of course you don't. That's not your job, it's the coaches. If what you say had any real basis in...

    Youth football DOGSO

It's already been stated on here that referees can show leniency and "flexibility" where the LOTG and kids are concerned but to allow serious misdemeanours to go "unpunished" as some seem to be suggesting is wrong for me. If as a referee, you want to do things "your way" then fine, don't put...

Why bother at all then? Just have a coach/parent do it.

Swings and roundabouts. There's some merit in what you say, but ultimately, we're referees, not social workers. The irate parent/coach who's child/player's goal-bound shot has been deliberately handled on the line by an opponent who then, not only remains on the field (after the resultant...

    Tips for identifying offender

Blow the whistle, focus your eyes on the miscreant(s) and repeat the player's number(s) in your head. :)

    Luton V Swansea

I'm of the opinion that the Luton player could certainly have stopped his follow-through in time but chose not to. I'd have gone red if I'd seen that in my game, purely because the above is just a prize example of the sort of stupid, immature thuggery we as referees are often forced to deal with...

    Referee retention idea

Indeed. Thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid I'm unable to even begin to describe the immensity of the **** I don't give. :)

    Referee retention idea

I see. Well, I've googled it now as you suggested and now know it's "meaning". In the time it took you to type the last 2 posts, you could have simply just stated what it meant. I may not have as extensive a knowledge of acronyms as yourself, but as least I can spell "explanation". ;) :)👍

    Cutting the Grass

Horses for courses mate. I always think it's best to show that you're involved, alert, and are assisting the referee. No offence intended with my use of the word "robotic" by the way. I just couldn't think of another suitable description. Maybe "passive". 😉🙂

    Cutting the Grass

A very obvious and exaggerated shake of the head accompanied by a loud "No" is what I'd do (and have done).
