my final game of the season yesterday was assistant on a cup final.
3.30pm kick off, a cup final at the same ground 11.30am kick off.
22 degrees, people drinking all day ...... Can you see where this is heading???
1-1 end of 90 mins, 1-1 aet, goes to pens.
A few missed pens a few re-takes for coming off the line (not by me) 2-1 next pen to win.
Que the first red card for fighting with the gk following a missed pen, walks off and then starts fighting with crowd, 5 seconds later mass confrontation, I would say a minimum of 60 guys fighting!!!
Never seen anything like it in 27 years of playing and 3 years reffing!!
Various people ejected others removed, with literally 1 pen to go, the ref (who I think did an amazing job controlling it) grabbed both captains and managers gave them both 3 mins to sort out there players club officials and spectators, fair play they did.
Penalty scored game over!!!
The things you have to do for £12 !!
