Figured out it stands for In-Service Training Session. Still no idea what that involves.

During Covid restrictions, training was remote/online, so Face to Face In Servive Training is described that way so you know you will have to attend a group session/meeting.
If it is in connection with an application for promotion the CFA will provide a session run by Referee Developers (Instructors) and the RDO, on subjects which are relevant at that level of officiating.

According to the FA criteria, there is meant to be BOTH the online modules and the face to face IST ....
You and a bunch of other promotion candidates spend a day together and referee instructors take you through various scenarios out on a pitch. You might also take your LOTG test.
I used to quite enjoy them.
